Dear BIZ

I OWN an internet cafe, ww.intouchcybercafe.com, and have recent y opened a second cafe.

I make a lot of dishes that are western recipes, but use Halal/Kosher ingredients. I would like to sell my dishes to the supermarkets as I feel there'd be a big demand. I'd be grateful if you could point me in the right direction.

BIZ Says:

MOST of the major supermarkets are constantly on the look out to find new products and are especially keen to find local and regional suppliers.

Either call their head offices or check their websites to find out the procedure for becoming a new supplier. Waitrose, for example, have Regional Food Groups, which host events throughout the year to source new suppliers and put individuals in touch with buyers.

On their website www.waitrose.com, you'll find contacts for 12 Regional Food Groups and a link that tells you which geographical area each group covers. For Sainsbury's, you can download an application form at www.supplysomethingnew.co.uk, which you can then email or post on to them.

You could also consider supplying other outlets such as delicatessens and smaller food stores.

And, of course, you could offer a takeaway service for your current customers.

Promote your dishes to clients to take home. As they come into your cafe they're already fans of your food and a ready-made market.
